Our Response to the Coronavirus Outbreak

COVID 19 UPDATES

Friday, April 17, 2020

COVID-19 UPDATE: Aloha, and thank you for all of your continued support during this time. We just wanted to take a moment and post an update on Governor Ige’s Fifth Supplementary Proclamation. This new proclamation places even more restrictions on Hawaii’s beaches and other outdoor activities to ensure the public is practicing social distancing.

The proclamation also sets more stringent requirements for essential businesses that continue to operate. They include requiring customers to wear face coverings while waiting to enter and while inside an essential business or operation; requiring essential business employees who have contact with customers or goods to wear face coverings; requiring personnel to monitor and enforce six-foot distances between customers and employees, and requiring limits to the number of customers in a facility.

We have been implementing our own safety practices for all aspects of our business. Here are a few other steps we are taking to optimize prevention:

For Drivers – We are advising any driver who has concerning symptoms to stay home. In addition, we are providing drivers with soap and water, gloves, and disinfectants to use as they work their shifts.

For Cleaning Partners – We are in constant communication with our Cleaning Partners to ensure they are taking the same proactive measures as our internal team. In addition, to remove any barriers to being fully stocked, we are covering the cost of supplies like gloves, disinfectant, and hand soap for our Cleaning Partners.

For Customers – We would like to remind you that you can leave your laundry in a safe location outside and include any special instructions in your profile for our drivers.

We want to thank you again for all of your support and love during this time.

We will continue to communicate with you during this evolving situation as we make or have any updates.

Stay safe and healthy!

Tuesday, March 17, 2020:

COVID-19 UPDATE: Aloha, I would like to take a moment to update everyone on what we are doing at Laundo during this challenging time. Governor Ige announced on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 that “aggressive actions” must take place, noting that only Essential Services, including Laundry Services like Laundo, will remain open. We are encouraged by the actions taken by Governor Ige (and hope to see more of these across the US).

We take our role as an Essential Service very seriously during this challenging time. Laundo remains OPEN for all our customers on Oahu and we are ready to serve you. We have made the hard decision to temporarily suspend our services on Maui and will not be offering our services to new or existing customers on Maui at this time. In the event we are able to resume service on Maui we will post another update. Continue reading to learn more about what we are doing.

Price Cuts For All New & Existing Customers

We are all in this together. Laundo is reducing our prices for all current and existing customers starting immediately on Friday, March 20, 2020. Instead of paying $2.72/lb (by request) on Oahu, all customers (weekly and by request) will be charged $2.25/lb.

 The Steps We Are Taking

We have taken extra steps to ensure that preventive measures like washing hands thoroughly and disinfecting work surfaces are practiced diligently and frequently across our entire workflow. In addition, the detergent and heat involved in our normal cleaning processes will continue to act as a powerful disinfectant as we clean your clothes.

Your clothes will continue to be washed and dried in their own machines.

Effective immediately, we will no longer be using our reusable black Laundo bags. Instead, we will transfer all laundry into clear plastic bags for both pick up and deliveries to minimize the risk of exposure.

No-Contact Pick Up and Delivery

As we all work to navigate the coronavirus outbreak, the safety and health of our team and customers is the main thing on our mind. To that end, we have practiced the “no-contact” delivery and pick ups at Laundo so we can maximize the social distance between our drivers and our customers to keep everyone safe.

“No-contact” in-person deliveries – We strongly encourage our customers to leave their laundry in a secure location outside to ensure “no-contact” delivery, but if you need to open the door to interact in-person with your Laundo driver, please be aware that we are instructing our drivers to maximize space between themselves and customers to avoid any contact. Your driver will now place or hang your clothes outside your door and maintain distance while you pick up your items. If your driver is picking up items, we ask that you do the same for them. We recognize this will lead to some unusual interactions, but these are unusual times and this is an important change we can make to help ensure the safety of everyone involved.

In addition to the steps we are taking, there are a few things our customers can do to help:

Please have your clothes ready preferably in plastic bags (garbage bags work fine). To optimize prevention, we are advising drivers to minimize touchpoints across their workflow, and having your bag ready to go will help.

If you have items with special instructions (e.g. an item needs handwashing), please pre-separate the item and put it at the top inside of your bag. This minimizes our need to find the item within your bag.

We are continuing to monitor and implement the local Health Department and CDC guidance for each of our locations. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at any time.

If you have feedback, questions, or suggestions on more we can do to optimize prevention and continue to provide an essential service for you during this challenging time, we are very open to it. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.

We will continue to communicate with you during this evolving situation as we make or have any updates.

Stay safe and healthy!
